"Enhanced" stereo images from the Spirit rover.

I put "enhanced" in quotes because you'll have to decide for yourself whether you think the images on this page are improved any from the originals published by NASA. On all of these images I adjusted the alignment of the left and right images relative to each other (the skew). I also may have adjusted the brightness and/or contrast in the images, and I may have resized them, too.

Anaglyphs and stereograms work best when the foreground details from both sides are aligned, and the alignment diverges farther back in the image. The problem with that is that some of the sides of the image must be cut off when skewing two images to do this. I've tried to strike a balance when doing that.

This is a scaled down (so's you can see it all) version of this image (3322x2934 1MB) from NASA. If I read the information on this page about Spirit's relation to it's surroundings, this is looking towards the east-southeast.

The skew and contrast have been adjusted in this image, from the NASA original.

Check back for updates from time to time.
