Below are three large pannable stereo pairs of the imprints in the Martian soil left by Opportunity's airbags.
You can really see the layer of granules, forming what Dr. Squyres called a carapace over the deeper dust. Did the
granules in the imprint areas get pushed below the dust, or did they get crushed into dust themselves like loose lumps of powdered
sugar?
